This week Amazon.com announced that the Kindle will supportĀ  a super size font, taking the number of fonts available to seven from the standard six fonts from mid 2010. This seventh font size will be twice the height and width of the current largest font on the current Kindle.

Australian Kindle More Accesible for Vision Impaired, Dyslexic

For those with a learning disability, Amazon is developing an audible menuing system so blind and vision-impaired readers can navigate books unassisted. The system will allow the user to listen to the text-to-speech function while simultaneously reading along with the synchronized text.

These new features when delivered will go some way to addressing a large number of complaints about the current Kindle that it ignores the vision impaired, whether the changes go far enough is yet to be seen but it certainly is step in the right direction.
